Mahogany Iris Lamp

Iterations

Inspired by the Pink Iris Flower, this lamp draws on underlying concepts of geometry and the flow of nutrients. Its light diffusion relies on a strong contrast between stained plywood and fabric, which creates a radial symmetry when viewed from above. When the lamp is off, the fabric reveals a delicate pattern that echoes the flower’s natural dispersal. Derived from the Iris’s five petals, the lamp maintains a consistent theme of the number five, expressed primarily through pentagonal forms. The lowest layer of the Mahogany Iris Lamp is secured with magnets, allowing for easy access to the bulb.
