Community Center
Envisioned at the New Orleans Batture.
This community center is designed to be a catalyst for productivity, creativity, and collaboration. Each space supports a distinct mode of interaction, ranging from quiet focus to dynamic group work, creating an environment that encourages all forms of creative output. The library supports independent, quiet work with a dropped ceiling and separated seating areas. Three sunken conversation pits, each varying in size, support different scales of group collaboration and social interaction. An elevated area just below the windows provides floor cushion seating and counter space, supporting both small-group work and yoga classes with the center’s best view. A café and picnic tables create a flexible dining zone inspired by the Batture’s riverside picnic culture. Pedestals feature sculptures from local artists, inspiring creativity while subtly guiding movement throughout the space.
